Saturday March 5th: "Young Person's Guide" - Ely Cathedral. 7.30pm.
A percussion extravaganza featuring world-renowned Chris Brannick in Milhaud's exciting Concerto for Marimba and Vibraphone. Plus Britten's "Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" and Brahm's Fourth Symphony.
Saturday July 2nd: "Serenade to Music" - Chatteris Church. 7.30pm.
This concert, given in conjunction with Chatteris Music Society, will feature the amazing twelve-year-old Cambridge-based cellist Victoria Nicoll, playing Saint-Saens First Cello Concerto. There will be choral items - Handel's anthem "Zadok the Priest" and Vaughan Williams' "Serenade to Music", plus music by Bach and Dvorak.
Saturday October 1st: Raphael Wallfisch plays Dvorak - Ely Cathedral. 7.30pm.
The return of our Honorary President, Raphael Wallfisch, to play the amazing Dvorak Cello Concerto, will undoubtedly be the highlight of 2011 for Ely Sinfonia. The concert will also include Wagner's stirring overture to "Tannhauser" and the ever popular "Hary Janos" Suite by Kodaly.
